President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev takes part in UNGA 75th session delivering an address

On 23rd September, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev is taking part in the highest level general debates at the 75th session of the UNGA.

By his address to be delivered in Uzbek Mr. President is expected to present to the international community his vision on the actual items of the regional and global agenda as well as to outline country’s political, social and economic priorities.

He also puts into limelight a wide range of timely initiatives designed
to bolster peace and stability, provide sustainable development, enhance constructive dialogue in the region and at the global level
as well, secure human rights and freedoms, and addresses contemporary challenges and threats, including climate change, food security and impoverishment.

In his previous address at UNGA in 2017 H. E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed Five Initiatives approved by various UN Institutions afterwards and being implementing today. The initiatives are: the First – to set up a Consultative Meeting of Central Asian leaders; the Second – to adopt a resolution on enlightenment and religious tolerance; the Third – to raise the Aral Sea problem; the Fourth - to solve the Afghan problem and the last – to ensure the employment of women.

The abovementioned Consultative Meetings are held on a regular basis, namely the second one took place in Tashkent in 2019. Established in 2018 the Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund
for the Aral Sea Region carries out its practical activities.

In March 2018 Tashkent hosted a high-level international conference on Afghanistan, in frames of which the concomitant declaration was adopted later to be recognized as a roadmap to ensue inter-Afghan peace talks.

In December 2018 UNGA passed a special Enlightenment and Religious Tolerance resolution.

At present a draft of UN Convention on the Rights of Youth is being devised, whose topicality was anew emphasized at the Youth 2020: Global Solidarity, Sustainable Development and Human Rights Samarkand Forum in August 2020.
